If you love the look of subway tile, you should know that it’s a trend that’s here to stay, That’s partially due to all the varieties available. It gives a classy look to any kitchen style. It can become a modern kitchen with bright accents and small appliances. Or, incorporate older wood décor for a vintage kitchen look. While we recommend sticking to a white subway tile, gray and ivory are also popular timeless choices.
An accent wall is a fantastic and easy way to update a kitchen. Choose one wall to be the focal point for your room. Add a paint color, tiles or even a stone finish to create your accent wall. In this kitchen, we created an accent wall using red glass tiles to add a bright splash of color without overwhelming the space. Add some fun kitchen accessories in the same color to complete the look.
If you’re anything like me, my biggest struggle in the kitchen is organizing plastic storage containers in my cabinets. After all, if you lose one of the two parts, the storage container is virtually useless. Invest in containers of various sizes to fit food leftovers of all kinds. However, you should only keep about 10 to 12 containers for food storage. Any more can cause clutter. Get rid of any that aren’t uniform to the rest or an odd shape. Try to stack like containers when you can with the lids underneath. Additionally, you may want to invest in a small cabinet shelf to help sort different size containers from the rest, or lids from containers. Of course, our cabinets are used for much more than simply organizing plastic storage containers.
If you have a small kitchen, consider removing the upper cabinets. Replace them with open wall shelves instead. You’ll create a modern look and open up the room visually. To keep your open shelves organized and looking smart, group sets of matching plates, bowls and glassware together. Your tableware will be easy to find and close at hand.
