If you can’t match styles, match finishes. A modern and vintage pair of tables can go well together with the same finish. In feminine spaces, add mirrored finishes. In a space with stone, concrete and glass, add wooden finishes for warmth.
Light colors enhance the feeling of more space. Dark colors on the other hand tend to have a closing in effect on rooms. You can start by choosing the lightest colors for the ceiling. This ensures a spacious feeling radiates from above trickling down the walls. To maximize this effect you should get a slightly darker shade for the bedroom doors.
It is not too uncommon to find iron and wicker furnishings in a cottage-style bedroom. You can make them more comfortable to use by laying down beautiful quilts on them which bear nice floral patterns. Complete the look by adding a few pillows as well.
Of course, redecorating your bedroom to suit the cottage life will require the right sets of furniture, curtains, quilts and wallpapers. Even the items you use for show should match the cottage theme.
