Wallpapered walls are a suitable design strategy whenever desiring to add a touch of color or pattern to a room. It’s usually used on a single accent wall but there are also cases when it can take over the décor. The pattern featured on the walls can also be integrated in other elements, such as the sofa upholstery. When the goal is to make a room feel warm, cozy and comfortable, too much natural light can have the opposite effect, although we agree this would be a desirable scenario. Limited natural light and strategically directed artificial lighting can have a profound impact on a décor.
Frame your fireplace with a set of built-in shelves. This is a great way to create a feature wall in a living room. Feature walls look best when they are symmetrical, so make your shelving units equal in size. In the living room design above, we used open shelves. You can also add doors to cover the lower portion for closed storage. Add a pair of sconces and a mirror or painting above the fireplace to complete the look.
